ADVICE FROM THE MEDICAL TEAM OF APPENNINICA MTB PARMIGIANO REGGIANO STAGE. BE SAFE, HAVE FUN!

A stage race is always very difficult to deal with, to offer greater security to the participants the organization has set up a Medical Team, your guardian angels along the Apennine ridge.

Appenninica MTB Parmigiano Reggiano Stage Race is a tough and demanding race in many aspects.

The terrain that awaits you is very challenging and all your physical and mental endurance abilities will be necessary to reach the finish line, but it is not just fatigue, there is technique and driving skills. For “total” riders, just like a real stage race must be.

Get ready for everything! Long climbs on forest roads, roots fields, long rock gardens, exposed single tracks and even some “portage”.

Also the meteorological variable should not be underestimated, especially if the heat of this last month continues, it will be very important to hydrate often and regularly from before departure and even at the end. Appenninica MTB Parmigiano Reggiano is a race in the mountains, this involves the possibility of sudden thunderstorms and sudden temperature changes: better to be prepared both in clothing, and in the technical choices regarding the setup of your MTB (tires, etc).

We don’t want to scare you, but we want to emphasize the commitment that taking part in the Appenninica MTB Parmigiano Reggiano Stage Stage requires.

To make your pedaling worry free and to put you in the conditions to give your best, we have prepared a high level medical assistance at each stage.

We call it our MEDICAL TEAM and they will take care of you at every stage with:

  • 2 ambulances with advanced equipment, strategically located and that will move tactically along the race course
  • 2 medical ER in motion who will follow the race along the route
  • 3 assistance motorbikes
  • 1 doctor in the MEDICAL TENT at the camp of each Race Village
  • 2 ALPINE RESCUE teams at the most risky points

In addition, each biker will have a wristband that will show the telephone number to call in the event of a MEDICAL EMERGENCY, and only and exclusively in the event of a medical emergency. All service personnel will be connected via radio on reserved frequencies and the EMILIA ROMAGNA 118 ER will also be pre-alerted with the helicopter service. In addition, the route is designed to ensure that in every stage village there is a pharmacy and a first aid point.

FOR YOUR MAXIMUM SAFETY OUR MEDICAL TEAM WANTS TO GIVE YOU SOME TIPS.

Hi Bikers! Appenninica MTB Parmigiano Reggiano Stage Race doesn’t mean only adventure and enjoyment… but also safety! During all the stages you could count on medical assistance service guaranteed by a medical team on the move and a little medical clinic into the Race Village opened from the arrival to dinner time, which is stocked with basic first aid equipment and emergency drugs, and where you could have the possibility to get vital parameter evaluation or any medical advice you need.

1-     If you suffer from any disease or allergy, please let us know what is about (unless you have properly filled out this info in the registration form) and keep in mind to bring with you the necessary drugs.

2-     It would be easier for you to bring with you some buccal tablet drugs which you may need during the race week, because otherwise, in the case of necessity, you would have to wait the arrival of the medical team on the move.

3-     The recommended medical kit which every athlete has to bring back is: antibiotics, paracetamol, lactic ferments, NON-STEROID-ANTI-INFLAMMATORY-DRUGS (NSAFD), life-saving drugs in case of severe disease (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, etc.).

4-     Last, but not the least, the importance of adequate sun protection, appropriate hydration and integration of mineral salts.. to avoid performance declines!

What else? … have fun. See you at the Appenninica MTB Parmigiano Reggiano Stage Race!
