The Appenninica MTB Parmigiano Reggiano Stage Race takes place along the Apennine ridge between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany.
The format of the race consists of single riders (SOLO) with both a general classification (men and women) and category classification by age (men and women together).
The Appenninica MTB Stage Race is a competitive race that offers both beautiful trails and spectacular rides on the ridge. Our mountains offer all the ingredients to host the most important MTB event of its kind in Italy.
The riders will face a hard challenge, creating lasting memories and the satisfaction of having achieved something truly extraordinary.
Participants are coming from all continents for the 2020 edition between September 27 and October 3. The number of participants is limited to 150.
The race facts by the numbers certainly do not pale in comparison with the now celebrated international races that started the movement of MTB stage racing such as the TransAlp (eastern Alps), TransRockies (Canada) and Cape Epic (South Africa). The distance to tackle is over 450km with an elevation gain of about 16.000m.
The race will take place over 7 stages. There will be an inaugural stage (not a prologue, but a long time trial), and two stages over 100 km. In between, several tough stages that will provide some fun technical riding.
The cities hosting the Race Village of the Appenninica will offer the participants a warm welcome and – without a doubt – the best Italian cuisine of any MTB races.
